William Pitcher *1545?? - +1578?? English Pirate.

He was a member of the Francis Drake's crew since 1560 and he participated in all his journeys in the Caribbean. Together, they pillaged many Spanish ships, towns and villages.

He was also on the GOLDEN HIND (PELICAN) ship of Vice-Admiral Francis Drake on a journey around They started on November 1577.

During a journey to the South of Atlantic, there was a dispute between Francis Drake and Thomas Doughty.

In June 1578, the fleet was docked at Puerto San Julian, near at the Magalhães Strait. Here was a trial with Thomas Doughty, Francis Drake accused him of a rebellion. A jury consisting of the crew members, including Doughty's followers, decided about the judgment. The only Leonard Vicary voted for his rescue. On July 2nd, 1578, Thomas Doughty was executed.

Robert Pike *1550?? - +1589?? English officer and pirate.

In 1572 he became a member of Francis Drake's crew, who attacked Nombre de Dios that year. Robert Pike commanded a group of pirates preparing a trap on a Spanish caravan carrying Indian gold into the city. They captured the caravan and, together with Drake's attack from the sea, attacked the town of Nombre de Dios. They seized large quantities of gold.

He was also on the GOLDEN HIND (PELICAN) ship of Vice-Admiral Francis Drake on a journey around the world in 1577-80. In the the Caribbean and the Pacific, together, they pillaged many Spanish ships, towns and villages.

In 1588, he participated on the successful defending of the Spanish Felicissima Armada (Invincible Armada, Grand Armada). See don Alonso Pérez de Guzmán y de Zúñiga-Sotomayor, en el Palacio de Medina-Sidonia.

In 1589 he took part in the military expedition of Armada (Contra Armada, Invencible Inglesa) to Spain and Portugal under the command of Admiral Francis Drake. The invasion finished as a complete catastrophe. See Maria Mayor Fernández de Cámara y Pita.

 

James Pattison *1670?? - +1710?? The English pirate acted in the Caribbean. He was a member of the captain Daniel Plowman crew of the corsair ship CHARLES.

CHARLES sailed from Boston in July 1703 to a corsair expedition against the French and Spanish ships. Shortly after the departure, the captain Daniel Plowman became ill and because of his quarantine he stayed in his cabin. The crew, led by quartermaster Anthony Holding, however, rebelled and chose Lieutenant John Quelch as their captain. At the end of September, Captain Daniel Plowman died of fever.

Later, on the shores of Brazil, they pillaged nine Portuguese ships and they received valuable cargo of weapons, skins, sugar, cloths, boxes of gold dust and money. At that time, however, an alliance was made between Portugal and England. Therefore, the English Admiralty, following a report from Portugal about the looting of their ships, issued an arrest warrant for the whole crew. In May 1704, the CHARLES ship landed in Marblehead today in the state of Massachusetts where unsuspecting crew broke away with their share of prey. Within a week, most of the crew, including James Pattison, were caught and imprisoned.

At the beginning of June, he was brought to Boston for trial. On the basis of testimony of crew members, James Pattison was found guilty and sentenced to several years in prison.

 

Benjamin Perkins *1670?? - +1710?? The English pirate operated in the Caribbean. He was a member of the captain Daniel Plowman crew of the corsair ship CHARLES.

Joseph Palmer *?? - +1720?? English Pirate. He sailed on captain William Kidd´s, the ADVENTURE GALLEY in the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean. He was a loyal crew member. The other known members of the crew were: Richard Barleycorn, Robert Bradinham, Hendrick van der Heul, William Jenkins, Robert Lamley, Gabriel Loffe, William Moore (who was killed by W. Kidd during a rebellion on October 30th, 1669), Able Owens and Hugh Parrot. The all crew with William Kidd was arrested in Boston on July 6th, 1699. After a year of imprisonment, they were brought to court in England. Palmer and Bradinham also testified in the court about the rebellion on October 30th, 1697 and about meeting with Robert Culliford at Madagascar. He was sentenced to death by hanging, but then he was pardoned.

 

Hugh Parrot *?? - +1720?? English Pirate. He sailed on captain William Kidd´s, the ADVENTURE GALLEY in the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean. He was a loyal crew member.
